Subject:        Guardian Mite Spray No Longer Approved for Use on Marijuana

Until further notice, Guardian (WA Reg. No. 997690-15001) is no longer allowed for use on marijuana in Washington. Information from the Oregon Department of Agriculture and the pesticide product registrant (All In Enterprises) indicate that this pesticide product contains an ingredient not permitted on the list of pesticides allowed for use on marijuana in Washington.

The Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) is updating the allowed pesticides list, and will be working with the registrant to resolve this issue. LCB will provide the updated list to licensed producers as soon as it is available.  The PICOL database has already been updated to reflect this change.

Action Required

Producers

  • Immediately discontinue use of Guardian and remove the product from the licensed premises
  • Advise all processors to whom you have sold marijuana treated with Guardian that the marijuana may have been treated with an unapproved pesticide

Processors

  • Provide a notice about the possible use of the unapproved pesticide to retailers who carry your products that may have been treated with Guardian

Retailers

  • Post the notice provided by the processor in a conspicuous location on your licensed premises
